We own Arnold Palmer’s personal 1963 Wilson Design by putter, Jerry Heard’s personal 1964 Wilson 8802 and Lee Trevino’s personal 1965 Wilson 8813 putter. We used these putters, along with many others of this style, to perfect accuracy and feel.
The Design By Flanigan is a classic putter with an Improved feel. This putter’s design is based on the well known 1963 Wilson Design by Arnold Palmer and the 1964 Wilson 8802 but with a distinctive improved feel with a clean square setup. This style putter has won many majors including the 2010 Masters. The Flare Feel Neck with the short hosel adds accuracy and “feel”.
These putters are made of Stainless Steel and weigh 335g for a nice, head-heavy feel – 35g heavier than the traditional putter. We tested several weight increments and we believe 335g is the best weight for a heel-shafted, flange-blade style putter.
